Former Cameron University two time All-American Peter Svajlen fired three under 69 to help him place in a tie for sixth in Cypress Lakes Open held Monday and Tuesday at Cypress Lakes Golf Club.

The event was one of 12 tournaments on the Adams Golf Tour winter circuit. Svajlen opened the tournament with a 1-under 71 and along with his 3-under 69 finished 4-under eight shots off the pace set by winner Craig Van Horn.

After stellar four year collegiate career at Cameron, Svajlen now takes over the role as graduate assistant under head coach Jerry Hrnciar. Svajlen, who earned $1,021 for his T6 place showing, earned All-American honors for his work in the classroom and on the golf course. In 2010 he was named Academic All-American and honorable mention All-American. In 2008, Svajlen was honored with the same awards. At Cameron, the Bratislava, Slovakia, native was named Presidential Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll.

On the golf course, Svajlen represented Slovakia in the World Amateur Team Championship in 2004, 2006 and 2008 while travelling to Puerto Rico, South Africa and Australia. He also represented his country at the Universiade in Thailand, Bangkok in 2007 and the World University Players Championship where he finished in the top 15.
